Job Opportunity: BI Developer
Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, one of the UK's leading mental health and learning disability service providers, is hiring a BI Developer to join its Digital Team. The role comes shortly after the Trust completed a major modernisation of its digital infrastructure, and offers the chance to help shape how data drives decisions across clinical and non-clinical systems using tools like Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Azure, and SQL Server.
About the Role
This is a senior, hands-on BI position rather than an entry-level data role. The successful candidate will take a leading role in designing and maintaining enterprise information architecture across the Trust.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and delivery of scalable, future-proof BI architecture and data models
Oversee ETL processes, schema design, and real-time reporting
Supervise and mentor junior BI Developers
Work with stakeholders across the Trust to deliver reporting for clinical outcomes and national NHS datasets
Ensure compliance with data governance and national NHS standards
Champion Agile, DevOps, and cloud-based methodologies
What You'll Need
Essential:
Supervisory or line management experience within a technical or data team
Strong ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft BI tools (Power BI, Fabric, Azure, SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS)
Experience in data warehouse design and delivery across the full project lifecycle
Degree-level qualification (or equivalent experience) in IM&T or a related field
Desirable:
Postgraduate qualification (MA/MSc)
Previous NHS experience and familiarity with NHS data standards
Exposure to AI/ML applications and cloud database technologies
